Bearcat T All American Posts: 3,533 | Post: #2 My guess is 20 to 23,000 the team has certainly been disappointing so we must hope for that 70 degrees and sunny skies early in the day. The 4:00 start will help as opposed to earlier starts in the past for Homecoming. Typically the students, frats, some homecoming parade bands can be counted on to help. The 5000 hats given may help draw some. I do not expect many UCONN fans to help the number too much.

FLIP Special Teams Posts: 929 | Post: #7 Where did you find that UC plays VT? From my info, we play the miami hurricanes in miami on Sept. 2 - return game for when they came up here a few years back. My guess for Saturday is about 18,000 at the most.

FLIP Special Teams Posts: 929 | Post: #10 Crap, I was going to go to that game - have relatives in Miami. Hey, didn't we have a home and home with VT once before? If I remember, we shut them out like 16-0 and they backed out of coming to Nippert.

We're getting more and more excited about our team this season, especially after our romp of Syracuse. I know you guys are really young this year, but I believe you have a good coach, great recruiting territory and a lot of potential in a BCS conference. D1 is still relatively new for us, and we're still learning to travel as a fan base. We filled an allotment of 4K for our game at army and had probably another 1-2K in general admission (2 hrs away). We were lucky if we got 1K at Georgia Tech, I heard we had 3K there in 2004. I think we'll probably bring a little less than 1K to Nippert on Saturday. If you're wondering about the huskies, we have a rFreshman QB starting his first game Saturday, so we are not overlooking this game by any stretch. He had some great runs against Cuse, but he has not yet shown that he can connect downfield. Don't expect us to pass too much - lots of short stuff, get our RBs involved any way we can. We have 2 talented RBs, our punt/kick returner is pretty exciting to watch, although he has not yet returned a kick/punt for a TD this season (he had a couple last year). Our D is better than we thought it would be, fairly well-rounded. Lots of young talent, no real stand-outs yet but #48 Lansanah (MLB) may emerge as our best defensive player.

Ring of Black Official Person to Blame Posts: 28,421 | Post: #12 Appreciate the welcome Husky Pantz We're feeling a bit down this week, coming off a horrible outing vs. Pitt. It would have been mostly on even terms had we not shot ourselves in the foot the other day. Kick coverage was awful, and I know you have good returners, so I expect we'll have our hands full. Pitt had 17 points directly attributed to special teams (two big returns and a blocked punt). Our offense has been inept the entire season. We have a rookie QB and not much breakaway speed at the skill positions. Our running backs are strong, but not overly fast. The OL is not far enough along to where it blows the defense off the line, so not having a quick guy (like Caulley on UConn) that weaves through the cracks sometimes hurts. Fastest offensive player is probably freshman Dominick Goodman, but he needs more game action before we see results. Pleased with the defense. Only been lit up twice (by Penn State and Miami). Miami totally thrashed us, but PSU was a case of Robinson connecting on three deep balls for TDs. Otherwise we weren't that bad in Happy Valley. Good luck UConn
