Natural generation
A single empty cauldron is created in each swamp hut. In the Bedrock Version, cauldrons are created that are 1⁄3 to 2⁄3 filled with a random potion.

Preservation of substances
Cauldrons can contain a variety of substances. Liquids they can’t hold include milk, honey, and any food in the bowl; namely mushroom stew, beetroot soup, rabbit stew and dubious stew. In the Java Version, liquid cauldrons are treated by the game as separate blocks from each other and with empty cauldrons this does not affect gameplay but affects the commands required to place them.
Stay hydrated
The cauldron can be filled with water by using a bucket of water placed on the cauldron. Once fully filled, a cauldron can be used to fill the bucket with water using an empty bucket placed on top of the cauldron; this empties the cauldron. Although it contains water, using the fish bucket on the cauldron does not fill the water, but stops the water, meaning it has no effect on the cauldron.
A cauldron can also be filled by pouring a bucket of water onto the block above the cauldron. Once the water block is removed, the cauldron will be filled with water.
Levels of water
It can hold three levels of water. A water level can be added to the cauldron using a water bottle on it. A level of water can be removed from the cauldron by filling the water bottle with a glass bottle over it.
A cauldron slowly fills with water when it rains, if it starts out empty or has a little water. This happens randomly, at a rate of 5% of the rate at which snow accumulates on the ground as it falls.
Water can be stored in cauldrons even in the Nether. The water in the cauldron does not freeze in cold biomes.
The water in the cauldron does not absorb explosion damage; create sounds and particles; Absorb damage on fall; allow the Riptide trident to be activated; or deal damage to the endermen, stride, or blaze. Cauldrons do no drowning damage to mobs inside and the fish behaves as if there is no water inside it. The player cannot float or swim in it because the water is at the level of the player’s waist. Jumping into the cauldron does not create any bubbles or water droplets.

Attempting to add lava or potion to the water will empty the cauldron.
The water in the cauldron cannot be sucked up by the sponge, whether the sponge touches the cauldron or not.
Pour dye into a cauldron water
Only available in Bedrock Edition.
In Bedrock Edition, leather armor is dyed through the cauldron so the cauldron can contain dye water. Using dye on a cauldron filled with water will color the water, consuming the dye. Different dyes can be added to create mixed colors. Use leather armor or horsehide armor on the cauldron to stain the water, reducing the amount of water in the cauldron by one level for each dyed item.
Attempting to add water, lava, or potion to the dye will empty the cauldron.
Cauldron Minecraft Hold the lava
Cauldrons can be used to contain lava. In Bedrock Edition and Minecraft Education, when a cauldron is filled with water, it will empty the cauldron and make an extinguishing sound. A cauldron filled with lava emits a level 15 light, similar to lava, and burns any entity within it; in Bedrock Edition and Minecraft Education, this includes mobs that do not take damage from lava like formed pigs.
The lava disappears when water is added to the cauldron.

Hold snow powder
Snow powder is currently the only solid material that can be contained in the cauldron. A cauldron slowly fills with powdered snow as snow falls, if at first the cauldron is empty or has any layer of powdered snow already inside. Up to three layers can be filled. When the cauldron is full, interacting with the bucket will create a bucket of snow powder and empty the cauldron.
A redstone comparator with a powder snow cauldron behind it will generate a redstone signal strength proportional to the fill level, up to 3.
In contrast to a cauldron filled with water, a snow powder cauldron that is not full cannot be filled with a snow powder bucket, as using the bucket over the cauldron will instead place the snow powder on top of it.
Fill the medicine cauldron
This feature is only available in Bedrock Edition and Minecraft Education.
In Bedrock Edition
A cauldron can contain normal potions, splash potions, and lingering potions. Using the potion on the cauldron will empty the potion and increase the level of the potion in the cauldron by one level. A glass bottle can then be used on a cauldron with a potion in it, filling the bottle with the potion. This reduces the amount of potion in the cauldron by one level.
Using an arrow on a cauldron containing a potion turns the arrow into a tilted arrow with that potion’s effect and reduces the potion in the cauldron by one level. Tilting multiple arrows at once can be more effective, and multiple levels can be used at once. 1 level of tipped arrows can hold up to 16 arrows, 2 levels up to 32, and a full cauldron can produce a full stack of arrows, resulting in 21.33 tipped arrows per potion.
Attempting to add water, lava, or another potion to a cauldron with a potion will cause an exploding sound and the cauldron will be empty.
An entity standing in a cauldron filled with any potion of any level receives no effects of the potion.
Using an empty bucket on a cauldron filled with any potion has no effect, as the bucket remains empty and the potion in the cauldron is not empty.
Remove dye from objects
A cauldron with water can wash away dye from leather armor and shulker boxes, and can remove the top pattern layer of a banner by pressing use on a cauldron with leather armor, shulker boxes, or banners. language on hand. Each wash will reduce the amount of water in the cauldron by one level. The water is not stained when the dye is removed from the object.
Career change
If a village has a cauldron that a villager doesn’t already own, any villager who doesn’t yet have a profession or work area can change their profession to leatherworker.

A cauldron filled with water or powdered snow will extinguish burning entities that fall into it and the entity emits black particles. This includes mobs, players, items (if they fall into the cauldron before igniting), and flaming arrows[JE only]. The flaming arrows inserted into one side were also extinguished. Entity must have access to water or powdered snow therein. Each entity being extinguished causes the substance in the cauldron to decrease by one order of magnitude. If the cauldron is filled with snow powder, it becomes a cauldron of water.

With a cauldron behind (either directly or separated by an unpowered solid), the comparator will generate a signal strength proportional to how full the cauldron is: 0 is empty, 1 is one-third full, 2 is two-thirds full, and 3 is completely filled or filled with lava. However, if there is a block between the cauldron and the comparator, the comparator will not update immediately.
