A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he's used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother's suicide. Critics Consensus

Instead of reinventing the menu, The Bear's second season wisely opts to toss its lovable characters into another frying pan of adversity, lets 'em cook, and serves up yet another supremely satisfying dish.

The Bear: Season 2 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Simran Hans New Statesman It’s the kind of rich character development that’s missing from most TV and films. Like in a great sports movie, the thrill is in seeing each team member working in synchronicity, lest the whole performance fall flat. Jan 16, 2024 Full Review The Bear: Season 2 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Daniel Fienberg Hollywood Reporter Jeremy Allen White is still great on The Bear, but credit to the creative team for realizing that this is a show that works best as a true ensemble and not as a star vehicle with some meaty supporting roles. Dec 14, 2023 Full Review The Bear: Season 2 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Camilla Long Times (UK) It’s a show about food in which the camera itself seems starving, pushing hungrily up against its main characters as they try to resurrect their failing sandwich shop in Chicago. Frederick T Perfect season - This season was a clear step up, with my favorite episode being S2 E6, with the chaotic family dinner, that really cemented the style that the series goes for. Each character’s development was refreshing to watch, and the series followed a sensible storyline that fitted well. I also felt that the comedic side of the series really improved. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/07/24 Full Review Pengi V This season is the best season of television I have ever seen. Carmy is such a painfully relatable character, I love richie and yeah. I saw a critique that this show tries to normalize the abusive gordon ramsey style kitchen and i have to say I disagree. I believe this show does the opposite, it highlights abusive kitchen environments but ultimatelhy shows that they arent necessary and that a cooperate kitchen environment trumps em all. Ok i hate my review and phrasing, Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/05/24 Full Review prawnda s it's not so different from the first season. a lot of forced conflict and shouting. there is so much to love in this series when they aren't in the middle of a conflict, and i don't feel that we need so much arguing and verbal/emotional abuse for any part of the story to continue. we get the point, there's conflict and sadness, but nobody legitimately wants to watch a show that's just unrelentingly negative. i don't think a lot of service workers would enjoy seasons 2 or 3, i think they are writtern for people who just want to fetishize the abuse. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/02/24 Full Review BigGeek U Outstanding writing, directing and performances! The intensity of this show cannot be overstated and each character feels so real that you almost think you are part of the scene as opposed to watching it. Excellent second season Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/24/24 Full Review Ivanti T Most of the actors were great, some need to never be on screen ever again— acting is not for them. Ayo is a sensation. Jeremy did his thing, he’s great at these kinds of characters. Chef Matty was quite literally himself? So that was taking me out of the show a bit because I know his real personality and it was basically what we got from his character, it felt like a joke a little bit. He’s also just didn’t have the acting chops other cast members do so I’d be like really into it and then his acting (or lack their of) unfortunately took me out of it. He’s not the only one though. Love his yt channel though. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews
